The Dorsey’s are Tripping- First Stop Seattle, Washington

Okay, Brandon and I consider ourselves to be quite adventurous. During our dating days we made sure we took a lot of day trips. This was a way to maximize our time together during the weekends because he worked out of town a lot and I feel like riding is just so therapeutic. It’s just something about the car that creates some amazing conversations between people. The music is always a great addition to the ride as well. We would always play our favorite songs and just kick it while riding so when Brandon suggested staying state side for our honeymoon, flying to a destination and road-tripping back, I was down.

We settled in Seattle as the place we would fly into, rent our car, take our first COVID test on the trip because we both had never been. I was enamored with Seattle because of Grey’s Anatomy, Station 19, Twilight and Fifty Shades, I am like “Seattle is Fiction Magical”. My husband on the other hand is all about food! He is a foodie he was here for new cuisines and spices and sauces and plenty of other items that peaked his interest..I was also on a book quest.

Seattle was beautiful we stayed at The Hilton downtown, we went to Pike’s place and collected some amazing flowers, novelty gifts, Seattle Co. Pickles, Cheeses and other seasonings and spices. We visited Lamplight Books in Pike Place and I was able to secure some James Baldwin and Octavia Butler books I didn’t already own.

The best part about Seattle was this beautiful ferry ride that we took from Bremerton back to the main city of Seattle. We were on the Puget Sound, they also call it the whale trail and I was geeked! I told Brandon, If I see a whale today..that’s sprinkles baby. I would be just fulfilled lol. I know dramatic but, I was in awe at the water and scenery and it was just amazing to and breathtaking to me.

Unfortunately to really get to see Seattle and we missed the October 21 memo for King County, you need to have a vaccination card. The negative test results are helpful but many places have went with full vaccination in order to patronize their establishment. So many of the other tourists things we would’ve like to participate in, we couldn’t do, due to not being fully vaccinated which is a personal choice and we all have total agency over our bodies so that’s our business. However I would suggest checking out any place You want to visit guidelines as far as COVID so you can be prepared and plan your trip appropriately.

We made sure to celebrate in every city! It’s not everyday you marry the love of your life and a little bubbly ain’t never hurt nobody!

If you plan on driving across country here is three things you should do.

1) Reserve yourself rental car before you arrive cross country trips require you pick up at an airport and drop off at an airport. ( we didn’t reserve our car but favor ain’t fair)

2) Check the county, state, city COVID rules and regulations you want to optimize your trip and not being prepared because you don’t know that specific place Laws ain’t it.

3) Use your social media in each city to know where and what is okay and not okay. Instagram and Tik Tok were a huge help along with the county’s website. Social Media kept our black tails safe. Letting us know about modern sundown towns and more. It was like a digital Green Book!

Have fun, Be Safe and Stay alive.

Thank you for reading. -Tah

I love this! Thanks for sharing! Seattle is on my list as well because of Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19.
